"Named after Abbot Gregorius Eisvogel who first guided the refugee monks from Alsace/France to Abbey Mariawald and Abbey Banz (both Germany) until they reached their final destination, Stift Engelszell. Its special recipe incorporates organic honey from local beehives around St.Engelszell as well as the unique use of an Alsacian wine yeast. Smells of chestnut, cashew & honey aromas, with sour plum undertones. Some herbal qualities round out the nose. Flavors of chestnut, honeycomb, raisin, sour cherry, and eucalyptus all contribute to the deep and rich palate. Alcohol is evident, but plays well with the flavors."
