The holidays are here and maybe your mojo is failing you. No fear! We’ve got you covered with Boulder Beer Company tomorrow with Brittney Heuerman to get your Mojo Risin’.

Hazed & Infused Dry-Hopped Ale: This unfiltered amber ale is “Hazed” in its natural state and “Infused” during dry-hopping with Crystal and Centennial hops, creating a flavorful, aromatic brew unlike any before it. Tapping into the creative spirit that launched Colorado’s First Microbrewery, the brewers at Boulder Beer Company have blended together four different hop varieties to give Hazed a unique aroma, with just enough yeast for a full mouth feel and a smooth, easy finish. So sit back, relax and get hazed. [5.0% ABV]

Hoopla Pale Ale: In search of the perfect festival beer, our Boulder Beer brewers and Kyle Hollingsworth, keyboardist of The String Cheese Incident and an avid homebrewer, joined creative forces. Imagination and improvisation flowed freely, and Hoopla was born. Hoopla Pale Ale is dry-hopped with generous amounts of Glacier hops for a fruity, floral hop aroma and flavor that will have your taste buds dancing. [5.7% ABV]

Mojo Risin’ Double IPA: Mojo Risin’ double IPA is a souped-up, extreme version of the one and only Mojo IPA. We added more than a half ton of extra malt and twice the amount of Amarillo hops, so be prepared for a full sensory explosion. The double dry-hopped addition elevates the grapefruit-like aroma and flavor to an outrageous intensity. [10.0% ABV]

Thursday Tasting: New Belgium Blow-out! 11/15, 5-7pm

Posted Nov 13, 2012 in Beer, Breweries, Events, Goings on, Limited Release, Seasonals

Come hang at the shop on Thursday, November 15, 5:00-7:00 pm for our New Belgium Brewing Blow-out Tasting! SEVEN beers, including two seasonals and four Lips of Faith will be sampled. Trey Wheeler from the brewery will be on-hand to serve you libations and answer your questions.

1554: “Born of a flood and centuries-old Belgian text, 1554 Enlightened Black Ale uses a lager yeast strain and dark chocolaty malts to redefine what dark beer can be. In 1997, a Fort Collins flood destroyed the original recipe our researcher, Phil Benstein, found in the library. So Phil and brewmaster, Peter Bouckaert, traveled to Belgium to retrieve this unique style lost to the ages. Their first challenge was deciphering antiquated script and outdated units of measurement, but trial and error (and many months of in-house sampling) culminated in 1554, a highly quaffable dark beer with a moderate body and mouthfeel.” [5.6% abv]

Snowday: “Pleasantly hoppy, Snow Day carries the subtle chocolate and caramel flavors of a new brewing malt known as Midnight Wheat. The Styrian Golding, Centennial and Cascade hops bring the backbone of hoppy bitterness to complement the roasty undertones. This beer is the deep garnet of a roasted walnut and presents a creamy tan head, floating artfully atop. Snow Day is bold and hoppy, drinkable and strong.” [6.2% abv]

Frambozen: “Frambozen begins with the aroma of fresh red raspberries, followed by the ripe seductiveness of a fruity brown ale with depth and delicate malt notes. It is deep ruby in color, with flavors just as rich. Every year, New Belgium sends a delegate to the Pacific Northwest to oversee the process of turning freshly picked berries into a pure juice to be added in fermentation. The coming of Thanksgiving at New Belgium is ushered in with the first sighting of our cellar operators scuttling about, covered head to tow in a festive crimson berry wash.” [6.5% abv]

Lips of Faith: Biere de Garde (collaboration with Brewery Vivant): “Famous in Michigan for farmhouse ales, our friends at Brewery Vivant introduced us to their biere de garde ale yeast strain. From there, we imagined a slightly tart, intentionally dry beer with hints of bergamot citrus that pairs perfectly with French cheeses.” [9.0% abv]

Lips of Faith: Tart Lychee: “According to Lauren, the imaginator of this pucker-pleasing ale, Lychee Fruit is so insanely sweet and flavorful you almost can’t stand it alone. Sour to the rescue! The combination of our barrel-aged sour beer, Lychee Fruit puree, and cinnamon sticks pours a frothy head of tart perfection.” [7.55% abv]

Lips of Faith: Super IPA (collaboration with Alpine Beer Company): “The Alpine Beer Co. and New Belgium have come together for the love of IPAs. This collaboration is hop-wonderful with Amarillo, Columbus, Simcoe and Centennial hops, bringing the bitter all the way to the front. A nice balance Is present with Pale, C-80 and Carapils malts, but the tropical and citrus tones of the American hops dominate. This Super IPA pours a sheened copper and carries a bright, white head. Consider yourself a hero for getting an  Alpine beer outside of San Diego.” [9.0% abv]

Lips of Faith: Imperial Coffee Chocolate Stout: “Serving up cold and jet black, this imperial stout should be taken seriously for about one minute as the dark foam builds. Then, enjoy its velvety chocolate-covered smoothness and delicious aroma of sustainably-grown, locally roasted coffee.” [10.0% abv]
