Bon Voyage! See you in a week (or so)!

Posted Apr 30, 2010 in Goings on, Miscellany, People, Travel, Unrelated to Beer

The beerlanthropists are in much need of a vacation far, far away in a land of sunshine, beaches, ocean, no television, no cell service, many books, and fruity cocktails. (Okay, no fruity cocktails, but maybe mojitos.) We are leaving the humble storefront in the capable hands of Reggae Mike and Brother Joe, who will be your fine purveyors of beer while we are away.

PLEASE NOTE: We are not shipping from May 1-8. We will resume shipping (and checking shipping orders sent to orders /at/ bruisin-ales /dot/ com) on Tuesday, May 12 on our return. You may, however, place an order over the phone to get it in the queue. Thanks for your patience.

Cheers, everyone! Please send sunshine! See you in a week (or so)!

Thursday 5/13 Tasting: Olde Hickory Brewery

Posted Apr 28, 2010 in Beer, Breweries, Coolness, Events, Rarerities

[UPDATE] Exciting news! We will debuting the World Beer Cup winner, 2010 Irish Walker Barleywine at the tasting on Thursday!

Straight of their HUGE win at the World Beer Cup for their Irish Walker, we welcome Olde Hickory Brewery (Hickory, NC) into the tasting room. On the sampler platter:

Piedmont Pilsner: “A Premium Pilsner Lager Beer brewed with the finest pilsner malts and hops from Germany and the Checzh Republic. Piedmont Pilsner is light in color and easy drinking with a clean crisp finish.”

Table Rock Pale Ale: “Our Flagship beer brewed for the true beer lover! Table Rock Pale Ale is brewed using the finest two row barley malts, with generous amounts of crystal and caramel malts yielding a dseep copper color and rich malt body. Table Rock is dominated by American Cascade hops, averaging a whopping 3 grams of hops per pint! Cascade hops produce a lively floral aroma and taste.”

Hefe-Weizen: “Pronounced just as it looks, traditional Bavarian style wheat ale. Unfiltered with hints of banana, bubblegum, coriander and clove. Our Hefe-Weizen is brewed with a special strain of yeast from the Weihenstephaner brewery in Freising, Germany dating back to 1040 ad. sometimes served with a lemon slice, and that’s ok.”

Ruby Lager: “A deep amber hue invokes a refreshing taste in this smooth brew. Slightly nutty, Ruby Lager has a dry finish, leaving one with a satisfying, warm glow, reminiscent of Ruby’s color. Ruby Lager is brewed with choice imported malts and hops carefully blended together yielding a smooth complex taste for the beer drinker who desires more in their beer.”

Hickory Stick Stout: “This is STOUT beer, not for the meek! Hickory Stick Stout is a whole- lot-a beer full of malt. English pale and crystal malts start this beer quickly followed by big time chocolate and black patent malts. Tons of Cascade hops go into Hickory Stick Stout to round out the malt character. Hickory Stick Stout is a very robust stout, bursting with flavor!”

Get there early since a few bottles of their high-grav line will be there, but in very limited quantities!
