Today’s the day. Downtown’s going to be buzzing as beer geeks far and wide begin to converge on Ashevegas for Brewgrass Weekend. There will be men with kilts. People with pretzel necklaces. Weird beer shirts. Ironic trucker hats. Look out, because here come my people.

There are quite a few things leading up to the big day:

Today:
BrewDog Tasting at the humble storefront from 5-7 p.m. tonight. Big line-up, big beers, AND we have a last-minute addition: The Paradox series. We’ll be sampling (baby samples and only one per person, please) both Russian Imperial Stouts, one aged in Islay whiskey casks and other in Isle of Arran whiskey casks. Also, last chance to win Brewgrass Tickets! One ticket for $5 OR three tickets for $10. Up your chances! Proceeds go to FRIENDS of the Blue Ridge Parkway. [SIDEBAR: Speaking of the Parkway, the Blowing Rock section has now reopened.]

Special kegs at The Thirsty Monk downtown tonight. At 7 p.m., they’ll be tapping a keg of Founder’s Canadian Breakfast Stout. I already regret telling y’all, because I really do want it all for myself. And so, I’ll likely be running out our door exactly at tasting’s end and up the hill to grab one (or two). Don’t drink it all. Also, there’s a special New Belgium cask—the first EVER east of the Mississippi. It’s a secret.

New beers today:
AVERY The Kaiser Imperial Oktoberfest
*
FRENCH BROAD Zepptemberfest*
HEAVY SEAS The Great Pumpkin*
LION STOUT (cans)
NEW BELGIUM Lips of Faith: Transatlantique Kriek*
TRAPPISTES Rochefort 10

Friday:
Spring Beer Fest: We’ll have tickets tomorrow for the new Spring Beer Fest. $30/each. Asheville Beer Blog thinks it’s way too early to sell tickets (I do, too.), but they are coming, so don’t miss it. What’s the new Asheville Spring Beer Fest? Edgy Mama’s got the scoop at The MountainXPress.

Saturday:
Hope you’re rested because it’s festival day! The humble storefront will be CLOSED on Saturday. Because we like to drink beer, too.

Sunday:
We’re open for business from 12-4 p.m. Come grab whatever you  need to take home with you.
