We forgot

Happy belated St. Pat’s Day everybody!

How lame, a beer store that doesn’t even acknowledge a beer-drinking holiday. (And we posted about Pi Day??) Our excuse is going to be that we got downtown yesterday to find the humble storefront imbibed itself, got totally wasted and, therefore, incapable of posting. Okay, actually, we had the day off and went for some very non-Irish shrimp and grits at Tupelo Honey Cafe—where, by the way, they now offer local beer flights for $4. Very nice!

Updates from the Brewniverse:

• Don’t miss the Welcome Back Koningshoeven Tasting TODAY! 5-7pm The “other” Trappist (the one not from Belgium) makes a return to the NC market.

Founders Kentucky Breakfast Stout is here. Because of the limited nature of this release, we are allowing (1) four-pack/per person. We believe in sharing the love with this one. [Image: beernews.org]

• Did you know that freelance beer writer, Stan Hieronymus, spent the day in Asheville yesterday? Yup. And he shopped at Bruisin’ Ales. On Facebook, he noted that Asheville is “amazingly loyal to local products.” *fist bump*

CheapFlights.com wants to give you cheap airfare and decent beer. Nice. They announced this project last year, so it’s great to see it actually happening.

Dogfish Head is kicking off Johnny Cask very, very soon. Love the art! If you’re anywhere near these “select” cities, try to get yourself some! “This beer, known as Dogfish Head 75 Minute IPA is a blend of 60 and 90 Minute IPAs with a special whole leaf cascade dry-hopping session. Post-hopping the beer gets transferred into firkins and dosed with fresh yeast and maple syrup from the ole family homestead. The debut of these 75 Minute IPA casks will take place during a live ‘Simul-cask’ event in NYC, Phily, Boston, and our home base in Rehoboth Beach, DE on Thursday, March 26, 2009 at 7:50pm (EST).”
