New This Week: FAT TIRE

Posted Mar 04, 2009 in Beer, Breweries, New this week

It’s true! Everybody run to Bruisin’ today to pick-up the first bottles of Fat Tire to hit the NC market. As we said before, we are so, so happy to finally get this beer so we can stop answering the question, “Do you have Fat Tire?”

There’s a debate going on over on BeerAdvocate with some NC folks being “underwhelmed” by the beer. And thankfully, Bro Todd has to say exactly what we’ve been saying: It’s solid, not knock-your-socks-off, but it’s New Belgium’s “bread and butter” which allows them to brew all their other fantastic beers. (And they are fantastic, btw.) The new arrivals are the three flagship brews, so perhaps we’ll see some special stuff as the year progresses. We want some La Folie and Le Terroir. Like, now.

The other goodie that snuck in is Brooklyn’s Local 2. Whee! Packaged just like Local 1 (except for the green label) in a 750ml with cork and cage, this seems to be its sister beer and categorized as a Belgian Strong Dark Ale. Haven’t tried it yet, but we plan to tonight!

What’s new the week:

BROOKLYN Local 2
NEW BELGIUM 1554 Enlightened Black Ale
NEW BELGIUM Fat Tire

NEW BELGIUM Mothership Wit
TRIANGLE BREWING Belgian Golden Ale
