Zappa or no Zappa?

Lagunitas to end the Zappa beer series? There’s been no official announcement yet, but a thread on BeerAdvocate says so, so it’s must be true! Ah, sarcasm.
We really have no idea. One BA comments: “…The story that I heard is that it had something to do with Lagunitas sending a bunch of free [Frank] Zappa beers to the funeral party of recently deceased Mother of Invention; Jimmy Carl Black (died about three or four months ago). Apparently JCB had sued Zappa at some point in their lives and left bad feelings with the family. So when it got back to the family, they just pulled the plug on the Lagunitas beers. Of course, this story may be some shade of the truth like a game of telephone, but how would anybody at Lagunitas even know about something like that?”
Now, we wait to see how this all works out. We only got a few of the series in-store by the time Lagunitas rolled into town, but they’ve been insanely popular. Ruben & The Jets, the most recent release, was a particularly good brew. We’ll be sad if it’s true, but to make you feel better, Baltimore declared December 21 “Frank Zappa Day.” Oh, let’s not forget that Hop Stoopid is soon coming!
