Wrap-up

We’re wearing the Cranky Pants today, so brace yourself. Neither Theobroma nor Chocolate Indulgence arrived, as promised, and we’re pretty bummed about it. (As an understatement.) Look for them next week, we hope. That is such a pet peeve of ours at Bruisin’ Ales. Drives. Me. Bananas.
Then, the back went out chasing the Bear away from the UPS man, but thankfully, it pays to have chiropractors as friends.
So, here’s our half-assed weekly round-up in the beer world:
Gary likes Brewgrass better
Bruisin’ Ales regular and writer, Gary, talks Festival Season in his weekly beer column. “While Charlotte had many advantages over festivals like Brewgrass (Asheville) and Hickory Hops, I’ll take those more intimate events any day. Perhaps I’m biased because I knew more people at last week’s Brewgrass, but Brewgrass, which capped ticket sales at 3,500, just had more of a family-like, laid-back, fun atmosphere.” Cheers to that! Bud Light goes with “drinkability”

Germany’s got it backwards. Or we do.
Apparently, beer is more expensive than gas. [AGI.it]
Things not shocking about Gordon Ramsey
The a-hole from Kitchen Nightmares doesn’t have much of a beer palate. The writer, who tried out a plethora of brewskis with the chef to ween him off Budweiser, says, “I’m conscious that in the end it wasn’t a real success (it all ended with Ramsay spitting most of the beers out, half throwing up and wrinkling his face (yes, even more) in disgust at the hoppy horror of it all) and I think I know why but I’d love to have your thoughts …” Hey, Gordon, you’re no Garrett Oliver. Yeah, I said it. [guardian.co.uk]
People care (a little) about who makes their beer
Charlie Papazian, writer, homebrewer, and founder of the GABF (Great American Beer Festival, took a poll and out of 5,200 people, about 51% said it didn’t matter who made their beer; and 49% said it did. That’s pretty interesting. He goes on to say, “Americans enjoy the best choice of beers available anywhere in the world. It’s my opinion that in this day and age of company consolidation, big box retailers, large grocers and ever growing large brewing companies, the diversity and choice beer drinkers enjoy today—is a becoming a very very fragile situation.” Hmm, Inbev?
