We love you, too!

Posted Apr 19, 2008 in Miscellany

Bruisin’ Ales customer, Gary, wrote a nice little brief for GoUpstate.com telling folks about our beer tastings and such. Thanks, Gary! [GoUpstate.us]

And, we got some Flickr love, too. Thanks, QuietDangst! [Flickr]

The Three Candidates

The upcoming election wearing you down? Mom R. sent us this parody today. We used to love the Three Stooges with Grandpa Earl while he ate popcorn and drank a beer, so we love this, too. Oh, the joys of Photoshop.

Hellbender is here

750mlhellbender1.jpg

Pisgah’s Hellbender barleywine has arrived! This “hefty” English-style barleywine goes down (probably too) smooth. Following in the footsteps of other breweries who brew for a cause, a portion of proceeds from Hellbender will be donated to Wild South.

Organic brown sugar and Centennial hops give this English-style barleywine its smooth finish and extra alcohol. At a hefty 9.8% 10.2% this miraculous beer is a tribute to North America’s largest Salamander, the Hellbender. A donation of $1.00 per bottle will be made to Wild South; a non-profit grassroots organization whose mission is to inspire and empower people to protect and restore the native ecosysyems of the southeast.

The Orange Peel rocks
How we missed this story is beyond us, but Ashvegas reports that the Orange Peel was just named one of the top five clubs in the U.S. by Rolling Stone. We love the new entrance there, by the way. It’s nice to have a place to hang and relax. And they have Asheville Pizza slices with Shiva on-tap!

Brixx Pizza coming to town
Brixx is coming to Long Shoal’s Road. We ate at the original Brixx in Charlotte some years ago and still love the place. They have good beer, too.

Brewgrass tickets are on sale now
Tickets for the ’08 Brewgrass Festival are on sale now. Go get ‘em! They always sell out. You can keep up with the music line-up here. Our friends in Brushfire Stankgrass are playing.

Please don’t bring this beer to the U.S.

Two in one day!

Time to clear some shelves, because two new breweries make their debut tomorrow. Lagunitas! Whoo! This is the starting line-up. We should be seeing some of the Zappa beers and other seasonals in the future. Beer spies tell us you’ll find the IPA on tap somewhere around town. Join us Tuesday, April 22, 5-7p.m. for a special kick-off tasting. Ron from Lagunitas will be in-store to say hello.
