Allagash is the new black
Finally, our Allagash Black is here! (But we’re closed today, remember.) We don’t know why we had to wait another two weeks than eastern NC to get ours, but whatever. Black, the newest beer from Allagash, is a Belgian-style stout, similar to Alvinne Podge or Hercules Stout, but a bit lighter on the alcoholic content. If you’re following the trend in almost anything stout lately (especially with coffee), here’s another to add to your list.

“…Belgian dark candi gives the Black a full and silky mouthfeel. Roasted malts give this stout its classic chocolate, toast and malty taste, and contribute to chocolate notes and a hint of roasted coffee in the aroma. The Black is fermented with a Belgian yeast strain and refermented in the bottle with the methode champenoise to make this beer truly unique.”

Bear is doing okay
Thanks to everyone who toasted the little buddy over the weekend. Through our dog’s injury, we realize just how many folks read our blog. That’s exciting. Even the Mountain XPress included Bear in last week’s Blog Log. He’s got two blue taped-up-tight ”socks” on his back legs and he has to wear these make-shift plastic booties from the vet that are made out of sterile fluid bags from surgery with gauze strips for ribbons. Bear does not like these things at all. Jason calls them “dlogs,” because when he’s outside with them, they sound like clogs on the pavement. At least the pup knows enough to not bite or chew, so he doesn’t have to wear that stupid cone helmet. Tomorrow, we’ll see how the sutures are healing. It’s hard to keep the little guy from jumping, so we think he’s healing nicely.
