Things we thought were impossible
In Britain, Coors is relaunching Coors Fine Light due to “a growing consumer demand for lighter tasting beer.” We imagine all of CAMRA cringing. Collectively. Because we love CAMRA. Not only to do they fight for real ales (the traditional brews of Britain), they fight for the people! Their new campain, Take It To The Top, is “launching a national petition calling on the Prime Minister to put an end to short beer measures.” We think it’s awesome that you can complain about your pint being less than full to the Prime Minister. We love a country that deals head-on with the real issues. Can you imagine calling on Dick Cheney?

No Signs of Life
The dude selling his Beer Rights for Life has no bidders as of today. With the starting bid at only $1, we honestly hope that he gets more than $5 for his trouble and that he not be forced to drink Miller Chill for all eternity. Seriously. We really do hope that.Â

Belgium in Black Mountain
Pisgah‘s Vortex III (Belgian Strong Golden) is next up and let’s hope they bottle. This will once again be their strongest beer to date at a whopping 13%abv. And the holiday beer, Baptista, is getting ready, too. We had the pleasure of trying it young (and flat) straight from the tank. It reminds us of La Binchoise Reserve (formally Noel), which we love and can no longer get. [delete expletive]
Georgia breweries disappearing
A CNNMoney story says that new rules in Georgia that affect brewery tours and tastings are crippling business. Two ounce samples? Sweetwater‘s Fred Bensch calls it “regulatory harrassment.”

Stay Classy, San Diego
Stone Brewing holds its 11th Anniversary Celebration and Invitational Beer Festival tomorrow. We salivate as we read the guest breweries. We could have a Cuvee du Tomme, a Hop Rod Rye, and a Pliny the Younger? Ridiculous.
